We at Lake of the Woods Houseboats, are concerned that you are getting
the wrong information regarding the catch limits and transporting
of fish out of Canada. The following is a list of facts, as we know
them, affecting our area and you, our guest, on Lake of the Woods.
DAILY CATCH AND POSSESSION:
Regular Angling License:
Limits:
4 Walleye/Sauger (only one ove 18.1 inches), 2 daily - 4 in possession
15 Crappie
2 Bass (December 1-June30) Month of June is Catch and Release only
4 Bass (July 1-November 30)
4 Northern (none between 27.5 & 35.4 inches and only one over 35.4 inches)
2 Muskie (minimum length 54")
2 Lake Trout (during September, only one over 22 inches)
Conservation Angling License:
Limits:

Northern Pike..................Open All Year
Walleye and Sauger.......January 1 - April 14 and 3rd Saturday in May to December

Smallmouth Bass............Open All Year - June 1-30 catch and release only
Muskellunge...................Third Saturday in June to November 30
Lake Trout.......................January 1 to September 30
PACKAGING OF FISH:
a. While fishing in your boat, the catch must be kept in the whole
b. Once you reach your place of residence (houseboat),
the
fish may be filleted.
c. At least one square inch of skin must be left on each fillet for
identification
purposes.
d. The fish must be wrapped flat to enabe measuring. One fish (two fillets)
per
package.
e. Packages must be marked with your name and residence number (houseboat)
TRANSPORTING OF FISH:
Possession must accompany the angler in the vehicle of travel ( you must take
your own fish across the border)
